NEW BRIDGE FOR LADGATE LANE

Region & Route:
Network Rail is renewing the bridge which carries the railway over Ladgate Lane next to Marton Station.  The existing bridge is nearing the end of its useful life and will be replaced by a new £500,000 structure. To enable the new bridge to be put in place it will be necessary to close Ladgate Lane from 6pm on Friday 28 October until 7am on Monday 31 October.  During this time traffic will be diverted via Marton Road, Longlands Road and Cargo Fleet Lane. Network Rail will also be improving Nunthorpe level crossing on Guisborough Road, Nunthorpe. A new road and footpath deck will be installed.  The level crossing will be closed to road traffic from 11pm on Friday 28 October until 7am on Monday 31 October.  Traffic will be diverted via Nunthorpe bypass (A1043). Andrew Hinton, Territory Maintenance Director, Network Rail said: “The renewal of Ladgate Lane bridge and work at Nunthorpe level crossing form part of Network Rail’s commitment to rebuild Britain’s railways.  I would like to thank motorists in advance for their understanding during this work.”

About Network Rail

We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.

Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
