New Customer Information Points enter service on Victoria Station concourse

Region & Route:
Southern: Kent

New wheelchair accessible Customer Information Points entered service today (Wednesday 7 October) at Victoria Station.

The two Customer Information Points will serve both the Kent and Sussex sides of the station and feature  desks which are low down giving accessibility to customers in wheelchairs.

They are also equipped with better I.T links to provide enhanced information to customers. The pods are a circular design to better accommodate the passenger flow through the station and have illuminated signage, making them more visible, with a colour scheme that fits better into the station environment.

Thomas Wood, Head of Route Stations, Kent and Sussex said: "We're constantly looking for ways to improve our customer service at Victoria station and these pods offer greater accessibility so that all customers can get access to the information they need."

The Customer Information Points will be operated by staff from GTR and Southeastern trains.

Peter Tuck, Southeastern Welcome Host said: "I help dozens of customers a day. These pods give me a much nicer environment to work in and will enable me to offer information to customers in a more efficient way”

About Network Rail

We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.

Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
