NETWORK RAIL'S GROUND FORCE GETS TO WORK (Tamworth)

Green fingered volunteers from Network Rail's Trent Valley Four Tracking Project (TV4) joined forces with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) on 28 June to lend their time and strength to improve Moorgate Primary School's wild area in Tamworth.
School children will benefit from the work carried out by 20 volunteers to construct a new path and seating in the wildlife area along with a new habitat pile to provide shelter for wildlife. Plants and flowers have also been planted to encourage wildlife. Network Rail's Senior Project Manager Keith Riley said: "Our team were happy to give up some of their spare time to improve the area for local children and help encourage learning about the environment. It's a pleasure to be able to give them an area they will be able to enjoy for years to come."

Materials were been donated by Network Rail contractor Norwest Holst Construction Limited who are carrying out the bridge work at Upper Gungate in Tamworth. A second contractor First Engineering kindly provided 2 volunteers to assist on the day. The £350 million TV4 improvement work will remove the bottleneck on the West Coast Main Line between Armitage with Handsacre and Tamworth by doubling the tracks from two to four.
