NETWORK RAIL JOBS-FAIR FOR MG ROVER WORKERS
- Region & Route:
A jobs-fair for MG Rover workers kicks off next week as Network Rail looks to fill almost 200 vacancies in the Birmingham area. Peter Strachan, Network Rail’s route director is encouraging job seekers to get in touch. “We are expecting a lot of interest from people who want to see what is on offer, so it’s essential that they pre-register to guarantee their place. We have the vacancies, they have the skills, so let’s see if we can match them up.” MG Rover workers should call 0121 345 5148 during office hours to register their interest in the jobs-fair, which will be held in the Corus Hotel, Redditch Road, Hopwood (near Longbridge station) on 3, 4 and 5 May. Network Rail will have up to 20 people on hand to interview prospective staff and will run a number of presentations and videos throughout the three days. It expects to see between 600 and 700 people over the three days. Every applicant will get a company fact sheet, be able to ask questions and hand in their application form. Network Rail will respond to each application within four weeks. Mr Strachan concluded: “We have vacancies in a variety of disciplines – engineers, project managers, signallers, maintenance workers, managers and support and admin staff – all based in the West Midlands. We can offer good jobs with competitive salaries, the prospects, the training and a career, all without having to up-root families from one part of the country to another.”

About Network Rail
We own, operate and develop Britain's railway infrastructure; that's 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. We run 20 of the UK's largest stations while all the others, over 2,500, are run by the country's train operating companies.
Usually, there are almost five million journeys made in the UK and over 600 freight trains run on the network. People depend on Britain's railway for their daily commute, to visit friends and loved ones and to get them home safe every day. Our role is to deliver a safe and reliable railway, so we carefully manage and deliver thousands of projects every year that form part of the multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan, to grow and expand the nation's railway network to respond to the tremendous growth and demand the railway has experienced - a doubling of passenger journeys over the past 20 years.
