EASTER SEES MAJOR PROGRESS AT TRENT VALLEY

While the rest of the country was enjoying the Easter sunshine, Network Rail engineers worked through the weekend on the £300m project to expand the railway through the Trent Valley in Staffordshire.
The project, part of Network Rail's £8.6 billion modernisation of the West Coast Main Line will add two additional tracks between Tamworth and Armitage, eliminating a major bottleneck on the route. Easter saw major work to bridges at Huddlesford and Lichfield and new track laid at Armitage, Huddlesford and Lichfield Trent Valley Station. The project will be complete by December 2008.
