CROSSING CHANGES AT HAYDON BRIDGE

Work to replace the barriers at Haydon Bridge level crossing will begin on 10 January.
Network Rail is investing £1.2m to replace the old crossing with a modern equivalent. Temporary barriers are being installed and two crossing attendants will be on-hand to offer help to pedestrians 24 hours a day from the 10th until the new barriers come into use on 26 January.
Warrick Dent, area general manager for Network Rail said: "I am asking everyone who uses this crossing to bear with us while we complete these essential works. Level crossings are safe if used correctly and the operation of this crossing will remain the same once the work is completed. The attendants will be at the crossing to answer any concerns people have and our community safety manager has contacted local schools to tell them what we are doing."

The B6319 will be closed at the crossing over the weekends 10/11, 17/18 and 24/25 January with various half road closures during the week. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.
The crossing will remain manually controlled from the neighbouring signal box.
