Fans of the famous Flying Scotsman are being urged to keep off the tracks and enjoy a safe day out when the locomotive tours the south and west next week.

Network Rail is urging passengers to ‘Check Before You Travel’ over the spring bank holiday weekend, when engineers will be carrying out work in Surrey and Hampshire.

Engineers will shortly start work on a new pedestrian footbridge at West Calder station.

Cambuslang Road in Rutherglen will re-open overnight tonight (Thurs 25 May) following a 14 week closure to enable Network Rail engineers to carry out work to repair and strengthen the railway bridge over the A724 in Rutherglen.

Passengers in the south east are reminded to check before they travel this Spring bank holiday weekend as Network Rail continues to rebuild London Bridge and the surrounding tracks as part of the Thameslink Programme.

Network Rail engineers will soon begin work to repair and strengthen the iconic ‘Cutty Sark’ railway bridge.

There will be a contraflow in place on the A8 near the showcase cinema for 20 weeks from Monday 5^th June while the refurbishment of the bridge takes place.

Network Rail is inviting residents in Lancashire to find out more about work taking place on the railway line between Preston and Blackpool.
