The Alloa line reopened this morning (Monday, April 16) following the successful completion of a four-week long, multi-million-pound upgrade project to prepare the line for electric trains.

Residents of Patchway, near Bristol, and the surrounding area are invited to a drop in session this week to find out more about electrification upgrade work in May and June.

With the May bank holidays fast-approaching, Network Rail is reminding passengers in the South East to plan their journeys in advance of the two bank holiday weekends.

Passengers planning to use train services in South Wales between April 23 and May 25 are being urged to check five days before they travel, ahead of essential modernisation work between the Severn Tunnel and Cardiff, which forms part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan for Wales.

A new era of train travel for Bristol was ushered in today when Secretary of State for Transport Chris Grayling officially opened a new platform at Bristol Parkway station, which will allow for a more frequent train service on a more resilient network.

Network Rail’s proposals for step-free access to a new second platform at Dunbar Station have been approved by East Lothian Council.

Network Rail’s demolition and reconstruction of the bridge over the railway at Kerse Road in Stirling is about to enter its next phase.
