Network Rail has installed a footbridge over the East Coast Mainline as part of the new £20m Reston station development.

Details revealed of a multi-million-pound plan to rescue a railway line increasingly ravaged by climate change and extreme weather. 

The assisted travel lounge at Reading station was formally opened at a special event earlier today (Wednesday 29 September).

Network Rail joined forces with Great Northern to tidy up the area around Hadley Wood station. 

• Major Transpennine Route Upgrade work continues between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge this weekend
• The latest stage of improvements include strengthening Williamson Street viaduct, upgrading more track at Miles Platting and installing new equipment for signalling cables
• The project will bring faster, more reliable services between Manchester and York, via Huddersfield and Leeds
• Trains between Manchester and Stalybridge will run via Manchester Piccadilly only (not Manchester Victoria) on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 October – passengers urged to check their journey

• Trains between Finsbury Park and Moorgate will divert into London King’s Cross this weekend as work continues to upgrade track and signalling
• East Coast Digital Programme will boost reliability and reduce delays on Northern City Line
• Changes to services announced for 20/21 November, 27/28 November and 4/5 December, ahead of further work over Christmas

The statue of Isambard Kingdom Brunel has been unveiled at its new home outside the Passenger Shed at Bristol Temple Meads station.

Network Rail and Vivarail today announced that Vivarail’s next-generation battery train will be launched at COP26 and will run daily services throughout the international climate change conference.
