The Secretary of State for Transport has granted Network Rail the power to close or modify 37 crossings as part of wider plans across Anglia to reduce risk and create a safer, more reliable railway.  

A network of new hi-tech weather stations are in action for this first time during hot weather to reduce rail delays on the West Coast main line, and rail routes in the West Midlands and North West.

Passengers travelling through two of Scotland’s busiest railway stations are being encouraged to top up with Scottish tap water as part of a global campaign to prevent plastic pollution.

Network Rail and Balfour Beatty teamed up with North Queensferry Primary School to plant flowers and a tree by the Forth Bridge.

• Infrastructure operator Network Rail Scotland and train companies are working closely to run as many services as possible during industrial action. 
• Strikes will affect Network Rail operations and train services across Britain on 21, 23 and 25 June, causing significant disruption for customers.

• Coordinated industry contingency plan will see very limited timetable available on strike days with around 20% of services running
• Trains will start later and finish much earlier than usual, between 7.30am and 6.30pm
• Passengers asked to plan ahead, check before they travel, to expect disruption and only travel if necessary

Network Rail will shortly begin overnight tree and vegetation management on the line between Evanton and Invergordon in the Scottish Highlands.
