Network Rail South East route manages the 2,000 miles of railway from London Victoria, Charing Cross, London Bridge, St Pancras and Cannon Street into South London, Kent, Sussex, and Surrey. A quarter of all the trains in the country run on our route, with more than 5,100 services every weekday (1.8m in total last year). More than 510m people travel with us every year and we employ more than 3,000 staff to keep them moving. Train operators in the region are Southeastern, Govia Thameslink Railway, Eurostar and London Overground Rail Operations Ltd (LOROL).

Bridging the gap at Liphook as accessible and covered footbridge opens
Network Rail engineers have replaced the footbridge at Liphook station in Hampshire in a £5.2m project to provide better journeys for passengers and improve access to the station.

- Network Rail Sussex route, which maintains and operates tracks from London Victoria and London Bridge to commuter towns of south London, parts of Surrey, Croydon and Brighton, spent over £643m maintaining and upgrading the railway during lockdown, so passengers came back to a better railway
- Enhancements worth over £150m included the continued work to upgrade Gatwick and Crawley stations
- Passengers welcomed back with enhanced cleaning and advised to wear masks in crowded stations.

- Network Rail Kent route, which maintains and operates tracks from London Charing Cross, London Cannon Street and London Bridge to commuter towns of south east London, Ashford, Canterbury and Dover, spent over £660m maintaining and upgrading the railway during lockdown, so passengers came back to a better railway.
- Enhancements worth over £100m include upgrades to Hither Green and Sandwich stations with more underway
- Passengers welcomed back with enhanced cleaning and advised to wear masks in crowded stations.
