The North West and West Midlands
This area runs from London Euston in the south, through the West Midlands, the north west of England and Cumbria before joining with Scotland at Gretna. It is home to the West Coast Main Line, the busiest mixed use railway in Europe and the main long distance route between England Scotland. It supports the major British cities outside of London – including Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool, as well as several smaller cities such as Wolverhampton, Stoke, Coventry and Carlisle. Train operators on the route include Avanti West Coast, West Midlands Trains, London North Western, CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains, Southern (GTR), Merseyrail, Northern, TransPennine Express, London Overground, Transport for Wales Rail and Chiltern Railways.

Liverpool Lime Street will see two trains leave per hour during RMT strikes on 3-4 and 6-7
Services will start much later from 7.30am with last departures by 5pm
Hardly any trains will run at all during an ASLEF train drivers' strike on Thursday 5 January
On all days passengers should only travel if absolutely necessary

Trains will be on a significantly reduced timetable, will start later from 7:30am and finish by 6.30pm
During those times only two trains trains per hour will depart Liverpool Lime Street station
With no trains leaving after 5pm people should plan alternative ways to get home
Liverpool Lime Street station will close its doors by 7pm
Nationally 20% of services will run on just 50% of the network – most branch lines will have no trains at all
